Volunteering Officer – BikeAbility Wales

Come and join the team! We are a small, friendly charity based in Swansea, helping people of all ages and abilities to enjoy cycling. We are looking for a Volunteering Officer to help us to recruit and support volunteers, including young volunteers and those who are disabled or neurodiverse.

Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do at BikeAbility Wales and we are lucky enough to have lots of amazing, experienced, dedicated volunteers.

We are looking for someone with great organisation and people skills who can help us make sure we provide excellent volunteering opportunities at BikeAbility Wales. You will help us to find new volunteers and support those that are already with us, improve our volunteering support systems and processes, and work with us to gain Investing in Volunteers accreditation.

As this is a small charity, you will have the opportunity to get involved with responding to client queries and with delivering our cycling activity sessions and guided rides.

  • Location: BikeAbility Wales (Dunvant Rugby Club, Swansea, SA2 7RU)
  • Hours: 24.5 hours per week, working Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday morning (there may be some flexibility on these core hours – please do email us to ask).
  • Salary: £25,010 Pro rata (actual salary £17,507 for 24.5 hours per week).
  • Deadline for applications: 5pm, Sunday 31st May.

Volunteer with us

We are always happy to hear from people who want to volunteer with us.

BikeAbility Wales is an inclusive cycling charity based in Dunvant, Swansea. We run fun, accessible cycling activity sessions for people of all ages and abilities – with a specific focus on people who experience barriers to riding a bike.

We cannot do this without our wonderful volunteers.

We offer volunteers the opportunity to support session participants, meet new people, gain skills, try out our wide range of accessible bikesand help get people out cycling in the community. We provide volunteer induction and training.

Activity session support volunteer

  • Help participants in selecting a suitable bike and ensure that they are able to use it safely. 
  • Support participants to find suitable helmets. 
  • Be available throughout the session to encourage the participation of all visitors and ensure that bikes are being used in a safe and effective manner

Welcome and reception volunteer

  • Welcome participants and those supporting them on arrival
  • Ensure they sign in and take payments
  • Respond to booking requests via phone and email
  • Provide refreshments and take payment

Bike mechanic volunteer

  • Maintenance and repair of two wheel bikes and specialist cycles.
  • Carry out maintenance checks.
